Lincoln Avenue Spa building was the first Bank built in Calistoga it was called the Sterns Bank, build in the late 1800’s, it was a depositor for the Mint in San Francisco.
There were seven silver mines on Silverado trail and a gold mine that petered out quickly. The stage coach would bring the silver ore and put it in the safe until it could be transported to the mint in San Francisco to make silver coins. (Ask us about Black Bart.)
We use the safe to store our products and lockup our petty cash at night probably the same combination it was a hundred and forty years ago.
